(Independence, OH) The International Business Brokers Association (IBBA) today announced exciting developments for its Certified Business Intermediary (CBI) designation. A new, modern CBI logo has been released, and the CBI comprehensive final exam will now be administered online at testing facilities across the country, allowing business brokers to obtain the certification year-round. Previously, the certification exam was only available at IBBA conferences.

“Combined, these initiatives really bring the CBI into the modern era,” said Kylene Golubski, Executive Director of the IBBA. “And we expect even more business brokers will pursue the CBI now that time and cost will no longer be barriers to taking the final exam.” By removing the exam from the IBBA conference, CBI candidates will also be able to enjoy more of the program content and networking, without the pressure of taking a test.
IBBA’s CBI certification is a significant designation and identifies an experienced and dedicated business broker. Certification is given to business brokers who have proven professional excellence through verified education as well as exemplary commitment to the industry.
“Our CBIs have been asking for a logo revamp, and we know they will love the new look,” stated Golubski. “The new design pays homage to our history by retaining the shield to represent honor and integrity. The lines dissect it into three parts, illustrating the relationship between seller, buyer and business broker. And the circle element is all-encompassing and inclusive, representing the business broker’s scope of service.” CBIs will also be receiving new marketing tools as part of the initiative.
CBI certification distinguishes business brokers from their peers. It’s an assurance to business owners and buyers that their broker is knowledgeable, experienced and follows best practices when coordinating the sale or purchase of a business.
Eligible CBI certification candidates must be IBBA members and complete an educational training program. Once completed, eligible candidates notify IBBA and its staff will coordinate a date and testing center location to take the exam. For more information, please contact IBBA at [email protected].

What was once a routine maintenance item has increasingly become a major financial and legal sticking point between buyers, sellers, and landlords. In today’s leasing environment, many commercial landlords now push full HVAC responsibility onto tenants, including […]
