IBBA Launches Online Learning Program to Help New Brokers Find Early Success

July 17, 2019 – INDEPENDENCE, OH – The International Business Brokers Association (IBBA) has launched its Business Brokerage Basics (BBB) online training program, a new educational course package geared towards those in the early stages of business brokerage and individuals seeking to enter the profession. The program marks the association’s largest educational project in the last decade, with more than ten subject matter experts contributing to the content.

“The Business Broker Basics program will help the aspiring or new business brokers succeed by providing the student with information about the business brokerage profession and the kinds of inherent skills necessary for success,” said Barry Berkowitz, IBBA Education Chair and IBBA Board Chair-Elect for 2020. “The program’s goal is to provide guidance to those new to the industry to prepare them so that they achieve a better success rate earlier in their career.”

The BBB was developed in response to students and IBBA instructors who mutually identified the need for education that precedes where current IBBA courses start. “There was a gap in the skills training for those first entering the industry,” Berkowitz explained. “This new online program fills that gap and provides the basis for early success for new brokers.” The program delineates all the steps in the business-selling process with each chapter focusing on topics from finding a business to sell to closing the deal. The BBB is entirely online, takes approximately 15 hours to complete, and may be purchased here.

The IBBA wishes to acknowledge and thank the many industry experts who contributed to the BBB project:
Barry J. Berkowitz; Boynton Beach, Florida
Monty W. Walker; Wichita Falls, Texas
Randy Bring; Boca Raton, Florida
Louis Pereira; Salem, New Hampshire
Pino L. Bacinello; Vancouver, British Columbia
Louis Vescio; Melbourne, Florida
Tawnya L. Gilreath; Burbank, California
Stephen Wain; Tinton Falls, New Jersey
Len Krick; Henderson, Nevada
James Parker; Clermont, Florida
Steven Beal; Winnipeg, Manitoba

The BBB is the latest addition to the IBBA’s growing list of resources for aspiring and new Business Brokers, which it is referring to as its, “Steps To Success” campaign. The newly released Business Broker Knowledge Assessment, a non-grade online competency exam, is included in the campaign. Additional tools such as an online, searchable terms glossary and best practice whitepapers and webinars, will be added in the coming months.
