Ethics Committee

Charter

The Ethics Committee shall be convened as needed to address specific complaints filed by IBBA or other interested parties that an alleged violation of the IBBA Code of Ethics and/or Standards. Supporting evidence will be provided prior to the convening of the committee.
The Committee shall:

• Receive and acknowledge the complaint
• Conduct proper investigation
• Request supporting evidence where appropriate
• Call a meeting of the Committee via conference call or other means and allow the interested parties to present their position and claims to the Committee and conduct an impartial hearing
• Include appropriate association staff and counsel in all deliberations and discussions
• Recommendation to the Board of Directors appropriate action (if any) to be taken by the Association
• Develop and recommend to the Board of Directors appropriate policies, procedures and revisions to the current professional ethics policy

Duties of the Ethics Committee Chair

• Attend all meetings of the committee
• Prepare for committee meetings by preparing and reviewing the agenda and researching issues to be discussed at the meeting in accordance with the Committee Charter
• Actively participate in discussion at the meeting
• Follow through promptly on any assignments for the Committee
• Support committee recommendations before the Chairman and the full board
• Prepare a written report for the Board of the Committees activities and recommendations
• Work with the Vice Chair to evaluate its own operations and action items
• Keep the member subcommittee(s) (if any) on focus
• Communicate to Committee members, affiliates and other interested parties
• Record minutes of each meeting and publish same after each committee meeting
• Assist Vice Chairman and staff with follow-up or assignments of subcommittees and working groups
• Attend other meetings when requested by the chair as the representative of the Committee and the Association
• Other duties as they may be needed
