Affiliates Committee
General Committee Purpose and Authority
The purpose of any committee appointed by the Board of Directors is to assist the Board to govern more efficiently. Committees are used to investigate, deliberate and analyze special issues on behalf of the Board. Committees are a subsidiary of the Board and will be expected to report their work to the Chairman of the Board and the staff on a regular basis. Each committee is expected to make recommendations to the board for action. The IBBA Board will annually review the work of each committee and determine which committees are re-appointed, need modification or are no longer necessary.
Ex Officio Committee Members
Some Committees will have a "Board Champion and Volunteer Champions" who serve on their committees in an ex officio capacity and serve in an advisory and resource capacity to the committee.
Charter
The Affiliates committee shall devote it agenda to maintaining and fostering a close working relationship with IBBA and the regional and state affiliates. The affiliate committee will maintain and update a handbook to assist both new and existing affiliates in the governance and operation of these affiliates and the offering of the IBBA University Field Courses.
The Committee will also assist interested parties in starting and developing new affiliates and provide an Association leadership and networking training session and idea exchange session(s) at the IBBA Conferences for the state and regional affiliates.
Meets: No less than twice annually.

Duties of the Chairman of the Affiliates Committee
- Attend all meetings of the committee
- repare for committee meetings by preparing and reviewing the agenda and researching issues to be discussed at the meeting in accordance with the Committee Charter
- Actively participate in discussion at the meeting
- Follow through promptly on any assignments for the Committee
- Support committee recommendations before the Chairman and the full board
- Prepare a written report for the Board of the Committees activities and recommendations
- Work with the Vice Chair to evaluate its own operations and action items
- Keep the member subcommittee(s) (if any) on focus
- Communicate to Committee members, affiliates and other interested parties
- Record minutes of each meeting and publish same after each committee meeting
- Assist Vice Chairman and staff with follow-up or assignments of subcommittees and working groups
- Attend other meetings when requested by the chair as the representative of the Committee and the Association
- Other duties as they may be needed
