Born in Japan, Sal dreamed of becoming a pilot, moved to the US after high school. Earned an aeronautical engineering degree and pilot license, followed by a master’s degree in aerospace from MIT. After relocating to New York in 1982, Sal built a diverse entrepreneurial career spanning aviation, manufacturing, technology, fishing, cattle, real estate,to online. He has served on numerous private, public, and nonprofit boards, including as chairman of NASDAQ-listed company. Moved to Hawaii in 2011, Sal has combined business leadership with civic service, served as Chairman of Japan-America Society of Hawaii and Pacific Air Forces Civilian Advisory Council, and in 2025 was appointed an Air & Space Forces Civic Leader by the U.S. Secretary of the Air Force. Sal has co-chaired major Hawaii–Japan events, including 150th Anniversary of Japanese Immigration to Hawaii and Hawaii–Japan Sister Summits. He is passionate about using his experience and network to help others succeed in business.
